Freestyle Head Coach
Ryan has been an athlete and involved in sports since the age of four.
He started competing in gymnastics provincially at the age of five, consistently placing in the medals. Ryan became intrigued by the sport of Freestyle Skiing at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. In 1990 he and his family moved to Red Deer where they discovered the Central Alberta Freestyle Ski Club. Ryan began skiing as a Combined athlete for the Red Deer Club, was selected for the AFSA Freestyle Ski Team at the age of fourteen, then was selected and competed for the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team in the sport of Aerials.
Ryan is an experienced Freestyle Ski Coach, administrator, supervisor and volunteer. He has eight years of competitive experience at the World Cup level in Freestyle Aerials and twenty-seven years of involvement with the sport. He has coached for twelve years at all levels of the sport from Entry Level to World Cup and the Olympics, including the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Ryan’s desire is to provide excellent coaching for athletes and to lead them to be healthy and proud of their accomplishments; to inspire them to push their skill level to the next level and to have fun every day, even when the going seems rough.
